Vodice is a small Dalmatian town situated near Šibenik in Central Dalmatia and are one of the leading tourist centres on the Adriatic. Long beaches surrounded by pine tree forest, crystal clear Adriatic Sea, big marina with various sailboats, numerous hotels, restaurants and bars are just some of the attractions in Vodice. The old town centre is a net of stone streets, squares and houses that radiate with Mediterranean spirit and its relaxed way of living. Vodice has always been a place that attracted people so its history goes way back. That kind of tradition resulted in present day's excellent production of quality olive oil and wine. Modern town of Vodice was founded at the beginning of the 15th century when St. Cross church was built. And up to 19th century, one of the main economic activities was drinking water export that made people coming as far as from Zadar by boat to fetch it. In the second half of the 20th century Vodice started to increasingly develop its tourist offer and owing to the planning and efforts of the local people today has become one of the leading tourist destinations not just in Dalmatia but in the entire Croatia as well.
